Role of Teacher and Student in Construction of Knowledge

The information that one creates might be viewed as knowledge that one has personally learned. Instead of learning anything from someone else, one learns via one’s own experiences and knowledge. Therefore, the learner’s own experiences in the development of knowledge play a big part in learning.

Role of Teacher in Construction of Knowledge

The primary source of knowledge construction in children is their teachers. The teacher’s responsibilities in the construction of knowledge are:

All pupils should be taught in a method that allows them to recall the material quickly and for a lengthy period of time.
The instructor encourages the use of ideas and creativity by the pupils. To advance their capacities and skills, more self-reflection and self-evaluation should be encouraged.
Group projects and collaborative learning should be promoted by teachers in the classroom. They will get knowledge on how to make wise judgements and deal with issues properly.

The educational process need to be relevant and practical. To address difficulties in the actual world, teachers should concentrate on providing realistic evaluations.
Teachers assign projects to their pupils that are genuine and apply to everyday situations. They ought to make a connection between classroom activities and the outside world.
Teachers encourage students to speak in front of their classmates and to ask thoughtful questions, which helps pupils gain confidence.

Role of Students in Construction of Knowledge

Students create new meanings by relating new information to concepts they already understand.
Students will be more willing to take on difficulties and learn new things.
The best skill or potential of each student will be identified. Students will become aware of their strengths and shortcomings via their knowledge and studying. They will put more effort into going better in their strengths and seek to fill in their gaps.

The ability to make important decisions in life and to tackle issues swiftly and responsibly will give them the self-assurance they need to succeed in the real world.
Students will have interpersonal communication skills and sensitivity for others. They will get knowledge about how to act in specific circumstances.

These are the teacher and student roles in the process of knowledge construction. As a result, it can be said that the teaching and learning process involves both students and teachers to a substantial extent.
