Following Independence, the nation's teacher education environment was impacted by the changing socioeconomic and political conditions. The Indian government established a number of committees and commissions to examine various issues related to teacher education (TE) and education more generally. It was discovered that many instructors lacked training, and steps were taken to reduce the backlog. Quality and quantity were the two key issues with teacher education. In 1948, the Government Training College in Allahabad was transformed into the Central Pedagogical Institute, and the Central Institute of Education was founded in Delhi.
