The term " task cohesiveness" describes a group's member ' shared commitment to working
together to achieve a certain objective. A group with a high task cohesiveness is made up of
individuals who are driven to work together as a team to accomplish a common objective.
A recent study of more than 180 groups at a large travel agency found that doing too much of a
good thing might eventually backfire. The finding revealed that while social relationships initially boosted a team's performance, excessive closeness among coworkers ultimately had the
opposite impact.
