Directive counselling is counsellor-centred. The counsellor plays the major role in the counselling process. In the interview, he does most of the talking. Problem and not the individual is the focus. The counselee's (student) function is just to cooperate in the whole process. The counsellor tries to direct the thinking of the counselee. Directive counselling gives more importance to the intellectual aspect rather than to the emotional aspect.
