According to Carl Rogers, "Counselling is a series of direct contacts with the individual which aims to offer him assistance in changing his attitudes and behaviour." Hahn and Maclean are of the opinion that clinical counselling is a process which takes place in a one-to-one relationship between an individual troubled by personal problems with which he has been unable to cope alone and a professional worker whose training and experience have qualified him to aid others to reach solutions to various types of personal difficulties.
