The following are its functions:
- To enhance formal education in schools, lifelong learning, informal learning, and special education.
- To provide inspectors of pre-primary through higher secondary education with in-service training.
- To provide pre-service through upper secondary school teachers with in-service training.
- To organise and make extension services available to teacher-education institutes.
- To create instructional materials for use in classrooms. to inspire instructors to do an exploratory study on a content-based approach.
