1)Inadequate training of teacher counsellors in guidance and counselling, high teaching load and time constraints, lack of support given to teacher counsellors and inadequate resources and facilities.
2)Lack of shared understanding in the school and community about the role of guidance and counselling.
3)Lack of confidential space to meet clients, poor referrals, appointment process and allocated time are some of the challenges militating against guidance and counselling programmes in Nigerian institutions.
