Educational psychology is applied in the educative process from birth to death of an individual. So it has numerous functions:
  1. Helps the teacher in understanding the child:
Educational psychology gives insight to the teacher about the psychological makeup of the child. A teacher cannot teach the child unless he knows the child. Once he knows the child, he will be in a position to bring changes in the behaviour of the child so that he proves an asset to himself and society.
  2. Helps in framing the child Centred curriculum: the child is considered to be the pivot around which every activity of the school has to revolve. The curriculum is the pathway of these activities. Psychology helps the teacher how devise such a curriculum.
