The NCF views on Language Skills Development

The NCF 2005 places a strong focus on a comprehensive method for teaching and mastering the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing (LSRW) in either English or one of several other modern or classical languages. In native languages, reading and writing may not be pushed as much, but in English, all four abilities must be taught holistically since in real life, none of them operate alone. According to the NCF in this regard,

“In several communicative situations, such as taking notes while listening to somebody on the phone, several skills may need to be used together.”

Numerous academics who have supported the integration of skills as they aid language learners in utilising language more effectively endorse this point of view. Along with LSRW, teachers must help their pupils acquire life skills including critical thinking, decision-making, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and, in especially, self-management so that they may successfully handle any communication situation.
