What are the social factors affecting education

Schools in general often and accurately reflect the social patterns prevailing in a particular country. As such, the education system is usually viewed as a social factor that must reflect the ideas of the people it serves. In this regard, the primary goal of education is to ensure cultural continuity by encouraging the growth and development of national characteristics, which often act as stabilizing forces. Every society is made up of people and whatever state they are in, they always have some sort of educational system.

Research  and analysis of education system

Research of Education system reveals the cultural concept and pattern of the community is in question. Also, the social patterns of people in a particular community or country are reflected in their education system.

It is important to realize that people’s cultures are often slow to change. In every culture there are certain values that are independent of time and place, for example belief in God, love of loyalty and justice are the enduring values of many cultures of the world.

Occurrence of changes in the youth’s ethics.

In many countries of the world today there have been changes in the attitudes of young people towards their elders, for example students do not show their teacher due respect as students did some ten  years ago. Teachers are also now more concerned with their raising salaries,  and other allowances than teaching. In some cases, guardians and parents also don’t respect teachers as much as they used to. All of these and others are clear indications that the relationships between parents and children, sisters and brothers, husband and wife, masters and servants, and between many other units of society have undergone great alterations. As a result, we have begun discarding many old customs and behaviour and adopting more tolerant attitudes.

Sociological change in Educational machinery

Another view of cultural and social change lies in the reshaping of the educational machinery to provide equal educational opportunities for all, which has led to an expansion of the school curriculum and a greater emphasis on the importance of the right kind of technical education for the new technological age. As a result, the old riddle between a liberal and a technical education is slowly being broken down and social differences are being minimized over time. In every country, there are different types of communities, classes, castes, and interests, and due to the lack of national feelings, many people ignore national interests. This makes it necessary to implant love for the country’s culture, which can only be done by introducing a national education system.
