How Can We Improve Guidance and Counselling in Schools
a)Any institution or organization can improve their guidance Counselling in their existing education system by hiring trained professionals and establishing a workable ratio of students to counselors.
b)A counsellor’s time should be designated full time to the support of the students and not be used as quasi-administrators to do the work of administrators.
Other qualities include:
1)Strong leadership
2)Strategic resourcing of people, time, and space
3)People with the professional capacity to help students manage their problems or refer them to expert help.
4) Clear expectations around the practice.
5)Good relationships and communication both internal and external to the school.
