Challenge Facing Guidance and Counselling in Kenyan Schools
a)One of the studies showed that counsellors face several problems, difficulties and challenges, including lack of awareness of counselling among people, inadequate pay, job insecurity, absence of a professional body to regulate counselling, and lack of a network of counsellors and mental health professionals for seeking.
2)Quite a number of problems faced by guidance and counselling services include inadequate time, uncooperative clients, lack of parental support, shortage of qualified staff, inadequate finance, Inadequate guidance and counselling resources, and negative attitude towards guidance and counselling from students and head teachers.
3)A lot of challenges to the implementation of guidance and counselling programmes included lack of specific time allocation, inadequate facilities, lack of cooperation from students and lack of cooperation from parents.
